Polar Plunge 2020: Are you Ready to Brave the Cold?
December 28, 2019
I think you are. I mean, why not? Unless you have a heart condition. Or you're an infant. Or have pneumonia perhaps. But aside from those few exceptions you ALL should be ready to participate in this frigidly awesome annual Kirkland tradition on Jan 1st @ 1pm in Marina Park. The forecast looks like rain, so you'll have the advantage of being pre-moistened before you expose yourself to the rest of us in addition to the 48 degree air and 48.2 degree water. The site with the water temp info says "this temperature is too cold to swim," (duh)- which is exactly why we do it! It feels good to be a rebel especially when you bend the rules with hundreds of your soon-to-be new friends and neighbors. So show up. Hang by the bonfire. Arrive a little early with your towel, warm clothes/boots/hat, and water shoes. Or dress like a clown! Whatever makes you happy as you start your 2020. ~j
